Guest Post from The Lovely Life of Leah!

Have you guys met Leah? If not, you're missing out. Not only is she one of my daily reads, but she actually reads all my psycho emails and responds to me. Definitely a plus. Plus, she's a total pin-up hottie with an adorable son and massive boner for Hello Kitty. She also somehow managed to find a gif of my side husband James Van Der Beek in an angel costume. Bottom line: she rules.

Hi! I'm Leah and I write the Lovely Life of Leah. I am guest posting for Britt today. Have you seen the show Catfish? The one where couples who date and are all in love online finally meet each other. 99% of the time one or both of the people are lying about who they are. It's crazy, and awesome. Love that show! Britt's the one who posted about it, and now I'm hooked!

For my guest post today, I wanted to tell you all about two sit-coms that you might not be watching but totally should check out... The Mindy Project and The B in Apt. 23.
The Mindy Project

Remember Mindy Kaling who played Kelly Kapoor, the Indian girl from The Office? She also wrote the book Is Everyone Hanging out Without Me?   I listened to it as an audio book about a year ago. That's when I discovered Mindy was awesome. She's super funny, adorable, has weight issues, boy issues, talks like a valley girl and is somehow very relatable.  Mindy is not on The Office this year for the final season because she has written and is starring in her own show The Mindy Project. The pilot was awesome!!! After reading (ok listening)  to her book, I feel like I know Mindy, she's such a mess and I love it! Basically, she's an OB/GYN (she could have any profession, that has very little to do with the show except that she can afford really cute clothes).

She had a booty-call type relationship with one of the guys in her OB practice. The other OB, I feel like she'll hook up with eventually in a Jim/Pam office romance situation. She lands a super adorable NBA lawyer boyfriend at the club when she goes out with her co-workers one night. She also dated the actor who played Andy Bernard from the office. Not to give it away, but there are other The Office and some SNL cameos throughout the season as well.

Mindy also has relationships with co-workers in the OB/GYN office, but it's not focused on that dynamic as much as it is in The Office. Mindy's personal life is my favorite part of the show. I love that she's not skinny like a stick, but they don't make a big deal about her dieting. A big part of the show is that  don't hide the fact she's a 'thicker' girl either. She gets into situations like we all do with sizes, scales, and make it hilarious.

The Mindy Project started this fall, and I was hooked after watching the very first episode. If you're not watching this show, it's on Fox Tuesday at 9:30. Get caught up on HULU or Fox.com. I know, the premise sounds crazy, but the show is AWESOME. I watch very little TV. Seriously, if I could watch only one show a week, The Mindy Project would be it. I heard it's not doing awesome in ratings. I have no idea how that's possible because the show is so well written, well acted, and just all around hilarious. Mindy is such a fun girl. I hope this show stays on for a long time.

Don't Trust The B---- in Apt. 23

I was so excited when I heard Mindy Kaling was getting her own show. But when I heard about the B in Apt 23, eeehhh... to be honest, the name of the show sounded dumb. I saw one episode, saw that dark haired girl really was a B and changed the channel. I am sooo glad my boyfriend somehow caught this show and insisted that I watch. It's actually really really great!!! Let me just say that one of the main characters is James Van der Beek. You know, Dawson, from Dawson's Creek! Only my favorite show of the 90's. And he plays.... HIMSELF! Living in New York, and best friends with Chloe, who is the B. June is this blonde nieve midwestern girl who is Chloe's roommate.

James Van Der Beek who plays James (himself) is the best part of the show. He is super fit, seems to be doing really well in NYC and has a hilarious gay assistant. He almost got to be in People's 50 Sexiest People issue (and he's really in there!) He got to be on Dancing With the Stars (just for this show, but he seriously should be on the real show!). At Halloween, he had a party where everyone had to be positive. Like no scary costumes allowed. Pretty sure James and I are kindred spirits because I hate scary stuff at Halloween too!

The deal with Chloe, the B, is that she's crazy and manipulative. She's actually kind of evil. She'll just walk into an office and take over the company. Her character is kind of funny, she's so over the top. And June, the mid-western girl, trying to make it in NY, while having skype dates with her mom, is a little relatable. For me, this show is all about James Van der Beek. He makes it awesome. He's so humble, down to earth, but also vain at the same time. It's great. They also do throw-backs to 'the Creek. So if you were a fan of Dawson's Creek you will catch on and love the references.

If you've seen The B in Apt 23 and weren't a fan the first time (like I wasn't)  I hope you give it a second chance. This season is hilarious. I promise you will laugh and laugh. And just like The Mindy Project, there are awesome cameos (can I say Dawson's Creek cast!? and other  favorite 90's actors!!)

Here's the problem, Don't Trust the B--- ALSO comes on Tuesdays at 9:30. Same time as Mindy. It's so unfair. But thanks to DVR, HULU, and ABC.com you can get caught up anytime. I think they are two of the funniest shows on right now.

Have you seen either of these shows? What do you think?

Leah, you are the bomb.com for guest posting. And an asshole for giving me even MORE tv to want to watch.

I've come to the conclusion that any time a new great show comes out, they purposefully have it air at the same time as like 5 other shows I want to watch. Which leads to me taking over the DVR and Big A getting pissed. Eh... it happens. Love you BOTH!

The Mindy Project is my FAVORITE show this season! LOVE LOVE. And if I was not married and tv life was real, I would totally date Danny in a hot second. Dreamy!
