We had off today. Don't hate.
Pretty much every single weekend, at least one of the days has been spent with my parents. It's really great to live so close by to them and make that possible. Trips to their house don't need to be the all day affair they used to be; now we spend the day together or just do something small, like meet up for lunch.
As part of our road to perfecting and decorating our home, Carl really wanted to take control of his office this time around. He and my Dad are currently building these gorgeous bookcases for just that. But I won't get into all of that because Carl has already expressed to me that he wants to write about it himself in his next guest post.
So, because they have been spending a lot of time constructing, it's left my Mom and I lots of time to spend shopping around for different house items. Curtains have been the holy grail lately. Yesterday we spent the day down in Mashpee Commons so I could check out Pottery Barn's curtains in person. They were having a 40% off sale so I was very optimistic.
I had seen some I liked online but I really wanted to get a feel for the quality of the work and also make sure the colors were the same as they seemed online and in the catalog. They were very pretty but I balked when I realized that the price they were selling for were per panel and not per set. I have 5 freaking windows in my living room, so it's going to be a pretty penny regardless, but $84 a panel? Come on.
So, I came home curtainless. In fact, I was very restrained. I did manage to snag this cute catchall dish for some of my delicate jewelry for $5.
It needs a valance, some artwork or wall decor, and new hardware on the sink, but's definitely an improvement. The color is so soft and pretty that I actually want to spend time in there instead of when it was that orange sherbet color.
Better pictures to come in the future. It's a sad day when you realize that your iPhone officially has better megapixels than your point and shoot camera.

I also had a blast adding some stuff to our registry. I didn't realize that you could still go places and use the scanner gun!
The other major thing we tackled this weekend was finally getting the upstairs bathroom painted. We are down to only 2 rooms left that need paint at this point. We had decided on a color (Ben Moore's Silvery Moon) and gotten the paint weeks ago, but since this is the only bathroom we have with a shower, we needed to pick an extended period of time where we wouldn't need it.
Gross. I mean like flexibility in when we shower, such a non-work day where that isn't a 6am requirement.
I love how it came out. To see before pictures (since someone forgot to take some, whoops), check out this post again, where I took my "before weight loss photos" in the bathroom.

Looking good! Now finish up and come do my house!!! Love that Carl wants to do his own guest post!
Yay for getting the bathroom painted! You are making such great progress. And good that you moved in the winter so you could do lots of indoor projects and you aren't missing out on beach days! :)
OMG! I don't think I could resist smiling everything I walked the jewelry dish. Lovely!
